Frequently Asked Questions

I am ready to take the leap... but I have a couple of questions...

Experiencing a bit of intimidation is entirely normal when attending your first pole or dance class. In reality, the majority of newcomers feel quite nervous upon entering, only to find themselves laughing and thoroughly enjoying the experience right away! Our instructors are dedicated to ensuring your utmost comfort and is ready to address any questions you may have. Here are a few common ones that tend to come up:

  • Do I need a dance background?
Absolutely not. You are not required to have any dance background although it is very helpful in some situations. If you are new to dance and pole then make sure you sign up for he beginning classes and we will teach you everything you need to know from the beginning. Your instructor will tell you when you are ready to move up to the next level!
  • I have no arm strength. Is that a problem?
Not at all. We will help you get strong and build body awareness. Every is different and this might take some time but with enough practice you can make anything perfect!
  • Do I need to sign up or can I just drop in?
We are a cashless studio so you will need to sign up ahead of time in order to take class. Classes fill up quickly so you are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to reserve your spot. You can even choose which pole you want to dance on.
  • What happens if I show up late?
DO NOT BE LATE. We have a no tardy policy and will not allow anyone into class late. You will forfeit your class and will not be able to make it up. Make sure you are at least 10 minutes early. Come and hang out in the lounge with your fellow students and warm yourself up for a great class!
  • What do you wear when you pole dance?
If you are just getting started we recommend shorts or pants that can be rolled up to expose the back of your knees. Skin is used to help grip the pole. You are also welcome to bring layers to start the warm-up in. Advanced levels require fitted shorts and a top to allow for greater skin exposure to help grip the pole. Please no see thru clothing. Kneepads, leg warmers and socks are always a good thing to have for some floor work classes. Please no lotion or moisturizers before class.
  • Do I need to bring my own Yoga Mat?
YES! Currently FVT does not provide yoga mats. Please bring your own or bring knee pads to warm up in.
  • What should I bring?
We suggest bringing your own yoga mat as we do not provide any on site. Bring water to drink. If you are taking a heels class don't forget your heels! Street shoes and regular heels are not allowed. They must be clean and not worn outside and have proper dance soles as they are safer when dancing.
  • What else should I know?
Please do not wear jewelry for pole classes. Your jewelry can scratch and ruin our poles. Do not wear lotion the day of your pole class. It is very slippery and you will not be able to stick to the pole.
